Please Contact Us With Any Questions.

All students at Shendy's are evaluated on the first day of classes to ensure they have been placed in the right level / class.  Please remember to bring past report cards or certifications with you at the start of each session.  This is optional for returning swimmers only.

Why is Shendy’s introducing these new programs?

About every 10 years the Red Cross refreshes its learn to swim program.  After careful research the Red Cross has recognized that there are areas that it can improve up from the Aqua Quest program and has taken steps to provide a better program.  There are many alternative programs that we could offer; however, our experience has shown that our clients enjoy the Red Cross programs the best because of their compatibility with instructor training, with summer camps, and because of the reputation of excellence that the Red Cross has.  We have also spent an enormous amount of time reviewing the new programs and have concluded that it is the best learn to swim program available right now.

If the new Red Cross program is so good, why is Shendy’s introducing its own set of programs too?

As previously mentioned, we have done an enormous amount of research on the new Red Cross program.  We are certain it is an improvement from the Aqua Quest program.  Our experience has taught us that because of the ratios that we offer at Shendy’s Swim School, that our students’ progress at a much faster rate than Red Cross anticipates.  As such we are implementing a set of programs to expand upon and improve upon the current Red Cross programs.  We believe that our new Tots, S.A.F.E and P.A.W.S.I programs will be well received by our clients.

My Child was on level 8 last session, now he/she is on level 6; how come?

Because the Aqua Quest program had 12 levels, and the Red Cross Swim Kids program has 10, most students will appear to ‘move  down’ two levels.  This is actually not the case.  While the number of the level might be different from before, the actual content of the level will be very much ‘in-line’ with the old program.  We recognize that this change might be a little disappointing

Shendy's Swim School has created a custom parent and tot program for children aged 6-months to 2 years.  The new program provided enhanced progressions to help students adapt to the water, and an improved first aid focus for parents.  This program is replacing Aqua Tots at Shendy's Swim School.

The custom S.A.F.E. Shendy's Aquatic First Aid and Exercise Program will be replacing the Rookie, Ranger, and Star Patrol badges.   SAFE is a 6 module program, 1 module will be offered each session, and they can be taken in any order.  The completion of any one module is equivalent to Rookie, two modules, Ranger, and three modules Star.  The program is an exciting way to learn about first aid, and places a much greater emphasis on stroke development than the Patrol levels.  We are extremely excited to implement this program as we are confident that it will be a huge advantages to pre-Bronze level students (aged 10-12)

The custom new P.A.W.S.I. (Pre-Assistant Water Safety Instructor) program is designed for students who have completed Bronze Cross but are too young for Leaders (which will be  Assistant Water Safety Instructor program in the Spring).  We are confident that these three modules (which can be taken in any order) will be a great asset to students as they move into assistant instructing levels.

Shendys Swim School will be offering the Red Cross Swim Pre-School for children aged 2 years to 6 years.  This preschool program is an excellent way to help students progress in the water at an early age.  It is a huge improvement over the early Aqua Quest levels.

Red Cross Swim Kids will be replacing the Aqua Quest program at Shendy's Swim School.  The new program has 10 levels, and an age pre-requisite of 6 years.  The improvements to the program include a more progressive design, better stroke development skills and an emphasis on good fitness throughout the program.
